Technology Blues!

I am bereft. My laptop is broken... It's definitely  not a time for me to be saddled with today's technology. Last summer my cell phone went belly up and upon my return I almost immediately took it into the T-mobile store and it's still being repaired! So I'm sitting in The Man's study, using his computer, and having a good old moan.

The problem seems to be the result of a Microsoft update and it may have done in the computer's hard drive as well -- though we don't know that for sure yet and I won't know until next week. That would be after the big birthday party! We leave tomorrow for the South of England. So I've not too long to sit twiddling my thumbs and looking for excuses not to do the things I can so easily put off doing because the Internet beckons! Oh woe is me...

Tomorrow morning we must go and pick up the cake -- which I am having made by a very talented lady from church. If she can pull off my design -- which involves cartoon-like drawings and a car from the early 60s it will be amazing -- and I shall post a picture! Now it's time for dinner and so no more Internet procrastination!

  1. Hello Katherine:
We are so sorry to read this. There is really nothing so depressing as the technology which will not work.

The 'Big Birthday Bash' sounds as if it will be enormous fun and the cake promises to be a work of art. How do people make such things out of icing? Enjoy!!!

  3. I feel your pain. But, on the other hand, you will be able to concentrate on having a good time.

  4. So sorry about the computer problems, Katherine! Maybe this hiatus from technology will allow you to relax and enjoy the party, being fully present in all ways. But selfishly, because I so enjoy your posts, I hope your laptop can be fixed -- and soon!

  8. When my old steam-powered computer conked out last year I was horrified that I felt so bereft. So I sympathise.
The cake sounds fascinating - photos please!

  9. Hope the party is fantastic, as well as the cake, Broad. Time enough to worry about the laptop when you've recovered from the festivities, though I do sympathise.

Utter sympathy about the lap top....somehow one gets used to a particular machine and its little ways...
