My Ducks Were All in a Row!
My mission to the US Embassy in London has been accomplished -- successfully! They will be making their utmost effort to see that I have it in time to travel on the 15th of July!
Of course this being me there were some minor tribulations getting through security and being able to enter the sacred American space -- but in the end there was a happy ending! More about that anon. I am waiting for my son to help get me to Euston Station and my train back to Southport.

Excellent news, although I await news of the minor tribulations with bated breath. J.
ReplyDeleteMinor, but typical!
DeleteHooray! At last - you'll be so glad to get over to France and rejoing the Man (& he'll be mightily relieved to see you, I'm sure, partly for getting meals cooked!!) You must be looking forward to seeing the work he's been doing for real, rather than just photos - and to getting some warmer weather, hopefully. It's nice at the moment here in mid-Wales, but....
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip - prayers for a 'bubble of protection' for your travelling.
He definitely definitely misses his 'cook'! But he has been very good about preparing his own meals and hasn't complained at all! Apparently he has developed a very good way of preparing mashed potatoes that has won him great praise when he had visitors! He has now finished the decorating work on the new bedroom -- a new clothes closet needs building still -- but otherwise it's ready for furniture again.
DeleteFingers crossed all will now go well for you and you will soon be in France and relaxing. Well maybe relaxing!! Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about it -- 'relaxing' is the name of the game there! I'll be glad to get away from this so called British 'summer'. ;-)
DeleteAlthough I don't believe in profiling, you do fit the discription of the typical terrorist!! Nevermind the dude with the full strap-on beard and the single eyebrow carrying the bag from "box cutters-r-us!!
ReplyDeleteJoeh, you've sussed me so well! ;-)
DeleteI like ducks ;-)
ReplyDeleteQuack, quack ;-)
DeleteAnother adventure! Enjoy your weeks in the sun.
ReplyDeleteIt's boiling here in Ohio and I'd like some cooler weather.
At least we finally had rain last night along with major storms. No damage here, thankfully.
Blessings.
Trouble with stormy weather in the mid-west is there doesn't seem to be any middle ground. Glad you stayed safe and sound.
DeleteCongratulations and bon voyage(fingers crossed)!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gaynor!
DeleteI ran the gauntlet in 2007. Getting into that darn building is an achievement in itself!! They make you feel so welcome....not!
ReplyDeleteYup!
DeleteSecurity is tight everywhere, even here in The States! Nevertheless, you are getting what you need, and that's important.
ReplyDeleteAnd you need to keep the end goal in sight and not lose your temper -- just go with the flow...
DeleteGood news...but I too await details of the minor tribulations...
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they were 'minor'!
DeleteWonderful news. Now you can breathe a sigh of relief.
ReplyDeleteIt's as though a giant weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
DeleteDear Broad, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! WONDERFUL NEWS. Peace.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dee.
DeleteWonderful news, Broad! Now I'm eager to hear about your sunny days abroad! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI'm eager to write about them, too!
DeleteGo Go Go and if you are anyway near Chatsworth, Illinois. Drop by.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great thing to do, Donna. I want some of your soap!!!
DeleteGreat news, Broad and I hope that when you do finally get to France you'll have more summer than we're managing to have here in Normandy. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just spoke to The Man who reported that the Lot was pretty miserable today. A few days ago it was in the 30's and today it's 15. Temperature here is about the same.
