After a lovely few days visiting friends, we stopped by for an all too brief visit to a very British place...

Charming, but a litle dated, don't you think? |

There's a clue here, beside the baggage... |

You Brits may know 'why' the clock is famous, but do you know where I was and what I encountered there? |
If memory serves me right, I think it is Carnforth, where 'Brief Encounter' was filmed.
ReplyDeleteWell, then ...
DeleteI have lived far too long out of the UK, I have not got a clue but it looks interesting. Diane
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting ... and so iconic!
DeleteCarnforth has my vote as well.
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteI haven't a clue, Broad, says she, all agog. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I came with this idea for a post I thought you would be one of those who would know -- being from Lancashire and all...
DeleteBut I've never been to Carnforth. :-)
DeleteIf it is Carnforth I'll mention it to my son. I didn't know about the history.
ReplyDeleteHe's been doing some teaching at Carnforth for one morning a week and travels by train.
How interesting...
DeleteHI I think I have seen this place on THE ANTIQUES ROAD TRIP... But I will be buggered if I can remember it
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's been on the Antiques Road Trip, but it would make sense. I was sure you would be one of those who knew immediately where this very British and very iconic place would be...
DeleteI've never been to the UK, so I am waiting to hear...
ReplyDeleteThis is a very British kind of place!
DeleteDear Broad, I have no idea and so I'm eager to find out.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted you to know that after you mentioned "The Daughter of Time" by Josephine Tey
I read it this week. What a read!!! Now I'm going to check out her books from the library, one by read. But I suspect none will be as intriguing as the mystery of Richard the Third. Peace.
So glad you enjoyed this unique book -- you can see why it gave me such an interest in Richard III.
DeleteI'm back tomorrow for the rest of the story...
ReplyDeleteYes, I suppose now I'll have to give you the low-down!
DeleteYou got me! I have no idea where you are, but I'll be back to find out.
ReplyDeleteI've probably been unfair to my fellow Americans here -- it's a very British thing!
DeleteYou've got me scratching my head.
ReplyDeleteLook for a film -- circa 1945-46... British, of course...
DeleteI'm thinking Carnforth - location of the film, "Brief Encounter". Celia Johnson and her strange twisted vowels. Did you have a cup of tea in the Refreshment Room?
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question -- no, unfortunately!
