Holy God, give strength to those who mourn, healing to those wounded, light and peace to those who have died; and grant us justice in the face of wickedness. Amen.
Two weeks ago on Sunday, The Man and I and others with a personal connection to France were invited by our vicar to participate in a short memorial ceremony at the beginning of the morning service. We each lit one of the candles seen in the photograph and then the vicar read the words which are below the photograph of Paris. For me the words were absolutely right and I greatly appreciate the thought and care he took writing them. It seems appropriate to share them today, when Paris is holding a moving ceremony to honour the victims of such evil in our world.

Such victims should always be honoured wherever they fall - innocent people - young, old and especially children - such poverty and cruelty in the world.
ReplyDeleteA fit tribute, and I tell myself, evil cannot prevail.
ReplyDeleteI know people feel helpless and want to do something, but I'm getting tired of all these makeshift memorials and wish we could do something so we don't see any more of them.
ReplyDeleteI agree, that is a wonderful prayer that says everything which should be said. .
ReplyDeleteAmen to that, all of it.
ReplyDeleteThe evil perpetrated on that day in Paris is incomprehensible.
Nothing will change beautiful Paris. : ) Hitler tried, and failed. It just isn't possible. They have the spirit and love to survive.
ReplyDeleteI feel sad for our world. On so many levels and for so many reasons....
